About Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind | 8TH PHASE | JP NAGAR | BENGALURU

SRMAB envisions a world where individuals with disabilities can achieve their full potential and live with dignity. Over the years, SRMAB has reached 16000 people through its School and Development Centre. Additionally, it has implemented CBR programs in Karnataka, covering seven districts and operating in approximately 1,800 villages. SRMAB also trains teachers and CBR professionals from India and overseas through its HRD initiatives.

India faces numerous challenges in addressing the needs of its disabled population, who comprise 5.21% of the total population. The lack of access to basic rights such as education, employment, and information exacerbates the challenges faced by disabled individuals. SRMAB designs programs to meet the needs of disabled individuals within the community through inclusive approaches, education, and economic empowerment.

SRMAB's approach is based on a participative, rights-based, barrier-free society that enables disabled individuals and the community to enjoy life to the fullest through education, economic empowerment, and social equality.

"This Blind school is quite an old one existing in the present place near Shivabalayogi Ashram near Ragigudda Temple. Occupying a vast area with a full fledged residential facility for the blind boys and girls teaching regular classes, conducting state of the art training for employment, an inhouse cardboard packing facility for taking orders, manufacturing, delivery to customers, music learning, sports, conducting music concerts by eminent invitees, special lectures, special subjects like gardening, roof top garden, performing fine arts etc.The founder Sri Srinivas dedicated to the upliftment of Institute and if I am correct has been awarded with a National Award also.Good place, self contained, safe, dedicated, punctual, disciplined atmosphere. When nobody thought that this type was also a service to the Nation, long back some four decades ago, this facility started serving the needy. Let us encourage with full heart and serve our own way for the upliftment of this institute. Good luck. Best wishes. Dr.K.V.Murali"

"These people waste water like crazy there by waste donation money, I live in the street behind their school and even now as I am typing this water is over flowing from their over head tank beside the play area and getting wasted. It’s unbelievable how anyone can be so careless . It’s been happening for months every night and many times in the mornings too . Apathy to the max .thousands of litres water wasted when Bangalore is dying from water shortage. Repeated calls have gone unheard. I only hope the management reads this and repairs it before I file an official complaint to the Bwssb ."
